Kubuta Kenji (curator, Art Tower Mito) Vol. 013

Shimao Shinzo, Ushioda Tokuko and Shimao Maho are putting an
entire artist family's house on display in Art Tower Mito's
"Maho-chan-chi (Maho-chan's Lovely Home)" exhibition. The show
has been quite a success so far, and since December 18 all
people named Maho plus one additional person can enter free
of admission! That's our special Christmas & New Year's present...
If you haven't seen the exhibition yet, find someone called Maho
and bring her along.

Enokura Koji Exhibition

I learned about Enokura Koji from the numerous artists who
studied under him, such as Miyajima Tatsuo or Kawamata Tadashi.
It wouldn't be completely wrong to call Enokura a member of the
Mono-ha movement in an expanded sense, however one must not forget
his enormous influence as an educator who kept nurturing most
notable artists. His death ten years ago at the young age of 53
must have left an irreparable void in the hearts of many artists
and fans, and at this event a number of associated creators gather
to pay tribute in variuos forms. The wide range of different
events related to this exhibition certainly match the diversity
of Enokura's work, and the artis's friendliness. On the program
on the opening day is a performance by Butoh dancer Tanaka Min.
