Slovenia, Croatia gained independence by force, says Baker Tanjug News
Agency, Belgrade, April 05, 2005

LJUBLJANA, April 4 (Tanjug) - U.S. Secretary of State at the time of breakup
of the former Yugoslavia James Baker has said that Slovenia and Croatia
gained independence by the use of force, which is contrary to the Helsinki
Agreement.

In an interview published on Monday by the paper Mladina, Baker said that
the declaration of independence of the two countries forestalled further
talks aimed at resolving the crisis in the former Yugoslavia.
