pixel ~ flux (tj. tok pixela) je naziv programa [mi2] koji se bavi
suvremenim tendencijama u podrucju digitalne slike. Osmisljen da pokaze
najsmjelije pravce razvoja tehnologije i nove estetske pravce a koji
nastaju u interakciji sa razvojem tehnologija.

*pixel ~ flux* je program koji se bavi suvremenim tendencijama u 
području digitalne slike. Osmišljen da pokaže najsmjelije pravce razvoja 
tehnologije i nove estetske pravce a koji nastaju u interakciji sa 
razvojem tehnologija.

U četvrtak 21.10.2004. u 19h [mama], gost će biti Caspar Stracke, video 
umjetnik iz Hamburga. Živi i radi u New Yorku od 1993. Radio je na 
području eksperimentalnog filma, a od 1993. digitalnih medija i medijske 
arheologije. Njegovi filmovi, videoradovi i instalacije izlagani su na 
brojnim izložbama, retrospektivama i festivalima u SAD-u, Europi i 
Japanu. 1999. završio je svoj prvi feature-length filmski projekt 
“CIRCLE'S SHORT CIRCUIT” koji je bio dijelom izložbe American Century 
Part II u Whitney Museumu. Kurirao je video program za Knitting Factory, 
Eighth Floor Gallery, Ocularis (New York), Up and Coming (Hannover), 
Cityzooms (Bremen), VIDEOEX (Zürich).

VIDEOS:

BETWEEN EMPATHY AND SYMPATHY IS TIME.
Is a 3 min video produced in collaboration with the composer Terre 
Thamelitz from his album Love Bomb. It consists of processed TV images, 
designed analogue to as particular filtering of a found sound source, 
that Thaemlitz features in this piece. It is the voice of a radical ANC 
spokesperson during Apartheid crisis in South Africa

VIDEODISK TRILOGY: SKT 090 CED, KUBRICK SPACE and TORN
These three short videos were produced with a modofied pre-laserdisk 
videosystem
that plays back color video with a needle from a 450 rpm disk resembling
as ordinary audio record. The motor is disabled which made the record 
skipping
over the same segments and producing non-linear and non-repetitive
editing sequences. "Kubrick Space" contracts the space between the rooms 
and hallways of the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's Shining (1981) 
whereas "SKT090: 2001" and "Torn" relate self referentially to 
malfunctioning supercomputers of the 60s and 70s. ZUSE STRIP, (2003) 
video, 7 min. a single channel video (related to an installation 
version, z2 zuse strip) deals with German engineer Konrad Zuse's codes 
on 35mm film (inspired by "Cinema by Number's" Lev Manovich's first text 
on Vuc Cosic) It compares these recodings to archaeological 
misinterpretations known from the decyphering of the anaramic alphabet 
by Ventris and Chadwick known as "Linear B" in teh 50s.

In memoriam and as homage to to the great philosopher Jacques Derrida 
who recently passed away, the screening will conclude with two elder 
pieces from the experimental feature film CIRCLE'S SHORT CIRCUIT: 
Episode #3 THE CONFERENCE(1997/2001) with Charles Duval as an alter Ego 
of Jacques Derrida and episode #5 THE CONFERENCE, Avital Ronell speaking 
about her book on Telephony and Schizophrenia .
