Mending Fences?

Elected or not, Bush is recognized as the president of the U.S., and 
with Yaser Arafat dead, new hopes arose on the both sides of Atlantic 
that it would be easier to get Palestinians to take what Israelis are 
willing to offer, so Great Powers appear to wish to be allies again. 
I guess secular low income Americans and immigrants to the US are 
just expected to suck it up.
