Vol. 079: ART iT Criticism and Counterargument
by Ozaki Tetsuya

Volume 2 of ART iT, the art magazine REALTOKYO is producing,
is out since January 17. A special dedicated to the "Boundary
between Art and Design," the issue features interviews with Yokoo
Tadanori, Tanaami Keiichi and Ukawa Naohiro, as well as a
discussion between Ito Gabin, Sawaragi Noi and Sato Naoki, and
other articles. At a point where both sales figures and feedback
on the first volume of ART iT (published in October 2003) have
put the staff in a complacent mood, a provocative email reached
us from London. The sender introduced himself as "a London
based artist, writer and art consultant."

(2) Event Pick of the Week

Asakusa Drag Carnival
by Editorial Staff

As an enthusiastic follower and fan of REALTOKYO, you'll be
familliar with drag queen Margarita. One of the central figures
of Tokyo's drag scene, Margarita and a number of fellow drag
queens gather in Asakusa for a really wild party! What they're
going to present on two stages is probably going to range from
"beautiful head trip" to "devilish nightmare," and how this
looks in detail can't be put in words, but has to be experienced.
