titled "Kabuki etc."!

performing arts and classical Japanese music, such as kabuki,
bunraku, noh, kyogen, gagaku, and others.

Sugatsuke Masanobu ("Invitation" magazine) - New York Special -

I arrived in New York yesterday, to work on a NY Special for
"Invitation" magazine. The issue is titled "New Yorkers in wartime,"
and the plan is to gather some statements from intellectuals and
creators that express directly their thoughts on war, the USA and
New York, while the war in Iraq is going on. I brought Miyano and
Kato from "Invitation," as well as Ozaki-san from REALTOKYO,
curator/writer Harada Yukiko and translator Shibata Motoyuki over
from Japan, and once in NYC translators/columnists Niimoto Ryoichi
and Kawachi Taka joined in and completed the squad of interviewers.
For the photographs we managed to put together a dream team made
up of Anette Aurell and Keetja Allard.

(2) Event Pick of the Week
=============================================================

Shiriagari Kotobuki Exhibition

"Bearded OL Yabuuchi Sasako," "Ryusei Kacho,"... The characters
manga artist Shiriagari Kotobuki creates are highly surrealistic
and significant, and if you see them once their impact is so
strong that you just can't forget them. This event exhibits a
number of large-sized panels showing images of nine of the
artist's most popular characters. Works on display include also
Indian-ink drawings, hanging scrolls, and three-dimensional items
made out of cloth, and all of them were especially made for this
exhibition. Drop by and get totally affected by the poisonous gas
the weird characters exude. By the way, Shiriagari Kotobuki's
diary is going to appear regularly in the Insight Diaries
(http://diary.nttdata.co.jp/ - Japanese only) from 5/3.
