Nakanishi Daisuke ("Little More" magazine) vol. 010

April 15
Following an invitation from editor Yamazaki Satoshi, I meet Ozawa
Eiji(former editor-in-chief of the Japanese edition of "Esquire"
magazine) for the first time in a while. Our merry evening ends in
an early morning booze-up at Yamazaki's home. In his living room,
a cat and a monkey serve us drinks. Well, that's of course just a
hallucination caused by the spirits. In fact, we help ourselves
with the wine, and heap complaints on the animals that luckily
patient listeners.

Songs from the Second Floor

This film's Japanese promo kit comes with a comment from a deeply
impressed author who provides the "Downtown" comedy unit (Matsumoto
Hitoshi & Hamada Masatoshi) with gags. The movie can in fact be
considered a perfected version of the "Matsumoto Hitoshi Visualbum"
or "Tozu" videos, with the fact that here they did it properly and
employed a huge number of actors being the only difference.
Yodogawa Nagaharu once said about Kitano's "Getting Any? (Minna
Yatteruka)" that it was "a film Woody Allen and all the rest do
from time to time," and I remember how I agreed after witnessing
it with my own eyes. So, here we have now a Swedish flick with
"Matsumoto Hitoshi" written on it. And "David Lynch," and
"Betsuyaku Minoru" too. It also has a bit of the ridiculous
nightmares Ishikawa Koji or Ebisu Yoshikazu occasionally produce.
