Le drapé est indissociablement technique et esthétique. C'est un sujet
d'école, l'apprentissage d'un laborieux savoir-faire de la représentation,
qui
a ses règles, élaborées par des maîtres anciens.
Le drapé structure l'oeil et la lumière.
Il y a dans le drap? des questions d'ordre esthétique : la relation entre la
nudité et l'habillé dans l'entre-deux du corps, l'abandon ensommeillé et la
marche forcée, les courbes et les plissés, la fragilité et la fixité, les
entrailles et l¹épiderme, l¹informe et l!étendue.
Le drapé est fonction de la gravité.
Il y a tant d'images, tant de corps. Le glorieux drapé grec, inquiet et
mortuaire durant la Renaissance, devenu rebut, chiffon, détritus laissé à
l'abandon, dont se revêtent les prostituées pendant la modernité.
Il y a cette panne, c'est-à-dire cette pauvreté du drapé.
Complexité formelle du drapé, matière, texture. Pathos des lignes par
lesquelles l'intériorité et l'extériorité ne jouent plus le jeu du vide mais
celui du pli et du repli. Le drap? chute et s'envole sans corps parfois,
seule
une trace reste.

Nowadays, there is this failure, this poorness of the drape.
Complexity of the drape, fabric and texture. Pathos of the lines from where
interior and exterior act not as a void but as pleats and twists. Drapes
collapse or soar without any body, leaving only a trace.
