Signs of Progress - but for whom?

President Bush was defiant today. He said: "Every sign of progress in
Iraq adds to the desperation of the terrorists and the remnants of
Saddam's brutal regime. The civilized world will not be intimidated,
and these killers will not determine the future of Iraq."

Of what signs of progress is that guy talking? The enemy is killing
his men with impunity. The first day he opened the pipeline, it was
blown up. The first day he opened water supply, it was blown up. The
first day the UN came there, it was blown up.

NY Times writes that terrorists want "to depict the United States as
unable to guarantee public order" - I think the terrorists are way
beyond 'depicting'...
