Video Art, Clips and Cult: Distribution Catalogue 2003

Once again, the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen has compiled a 
distribution catalogue full of surprises and highlights, featuring 68 
titles from the programs of this year’s festival. The catalogue can be 
ordered at the Festival office or downloaded at www.kurzfilmtage.de from 
September 1st.

The catalogue features award winners and outstanding works from the 
programs of the 49th Festival, including the winners of the International 
and German Competitions 2003, “Portret” by Sergej Loznitsa, “Auto Center 
Drive” by Bjoern Melhus, and “Manual” by Christoph Girardet and Matthias 
Mueller. There are two programs of videos by renowned video artists Marina 
Grzinic and Aina Smid as well as some short films by Klaus Lemke from the 
1960s which definitely have cult potential. And, of course, the fifth 
Muvi-Reel containing all the clips featured at the MuVi Award 2003.

Oberhausen distributes short films on a non-commercial basis, registering a 
growing number of rentals each year. The most popular rentals are 
feature-length programs compiled by the Festival upon request. Repertory 
theatres, museums, festivals, cultural centres and Goethe Institutes are 
among those who present Oberhausen films all over the world, new venues are 
always welcome. In 2002, films travelled to Rotterdam, Graz, Seoul, 
Bangkok, Belgrade, Hong Kong and many other places. Presentations in 
Torino, Tel Aviv and Osaka are planned, not to mention the many venues in 
Germany that present Oberhausen films.
