>(BEYOND THE BORDER) - INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

>                          ANNOUNCEMENT OF A COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
>
>The cultural association "Frisigello" organizes the first edition of 
>the international short film festival  "Beyond the Border", that 
>will be carried out  in the city of Viterbo (80 km from Rome) from 
>September 10th to 14th 2003.
>
>The aim of the festival is  giving visibility to those movies that 
>involve a reflection about the "Border" concept. Borders can be seen 
>not only as physical boundaries, but also  as linguistic, cultural, 
>social, ideological barriers or  common stereotypes.
>
>There are two competitive sections:
>
>a) a)       Sperimental language - Videoart, animation, sperimental 
>works ( according to    their thecnical, stylistic and narrative 
>profiles).
>b) b)       Documentary - regarding social and 
>demo-ethno-anthropological movies.
>
>Local territory  - regarding anthropological or historical works carried
>There are no time limits for the video-works.
>Required formats: Dvcam, miniDV, betacam or vhs.
>Each filmmaker can present 1 work or more. Works anterior to 2000 
>won't be considered.
>The works will have to arrive in vhs format not after August 30th , 
>accompanied by a photo and by a  cart reporting; biographical notes, 
>the title of the work, the technical cast (screenplay, photography, 
>soundtrack, editing), the interpreters , the producer , a brief 
>synopsis and the author's filmography, any prize or mention obtained 
>in other festivals. The author must specificate the section in which 
>his work has to be included.
>
>A committee  composed by the organizers  of the  festival will 
>select the movies admitted to the final phase. Each moviemaker will 
>be informed of the outcome by mail, e-mail or telephone.
>The committee reserves the right to switch a film from its original section.
>The vhs received for the competition won't be sent back and will 
>remain in the archives of the Frigisello association.

>A qualified jury , selected by the organizers, will value the  works 
>and will assign these prices:
>
>         -   Languages section best work                 300 ¤  value
>        
>         -   Documentary section best work 
>300 ¤  value
>
>         -  Special prize for local territory section best work 
>200 ¤  value

>- 2 special mentions for the movies which reveal the most 
>interesting thecnical or artistic aspects.

>The works  admitted to the final phase of the festival will be 
>projected in the  former S. Orsola church, in Viterbo, via S. Pietro
