dot.nu, live cinema in motion

dot.nu presents live cinema, bringing together various forms of live
projection and live music.

performances by:

Joshua Kit Clayton and Susan Costabile (USA)
Interruption

Interruption is about the relationship between everyday reality and the
fantasies we project onto it. Clayton and Costabile perform laying down,
with a video camera and a microphone close to their faces. The sound and
images picked up by the microphones and cameras control a custom-built
system. The interaction that takes place between the live story and a
pre-recorded story that is played back simultaneously is the basis for
exploring the issue of ‘interruption’. The actions and verbal expressions
of the artists control what is displayed on the projection screens.

Joshua Kit Clayton is a computer programmer and composer of electronic
music. His music has been released on the record labels Cytrax, Vertical
Form, ~scape, Mille Plateaux and Orthlorng Musork. He also works as a
programmer for Cycling ’74 where he is responsible for developing programs
such as Max/MSP and MIDI. His most recent work focuses on ‘Jitter’, a
multidimensional set for programming, editing and visualizing audio, video
and 3D applications. Sue Costabile is a photographer and video artist. She
often combines analog and digital processes, and is concerned with themes
like ‘the organic’ versus ‘artificiality’.

Köhn, Ovil Bianca and Tuk (B)
Overall

Overall is the name of the collaborative project of Jurgen de Blonde
(better known as Köhn), Tim Wijnant (aka Ovil Bianca) and image director
Guillaume Graux (aka Tuk). Both Köhn’s CDs (s/t, (Köhn)² and Koen) and Ovil
Bianca’s debut album (Gravity = Love) were released by the West Flanders
publisher (K-RAA-K)³. The electronic music of both Köhn and Ovil Bianca is
characteristically playful in its use of a variety of styles (glitch,
beats, drones, minimalism, electro, impro and indie) to achieve a catchy
and often humorous result. Köhn and Ovil Bianca will perform live to a film
by Graux, made especially for Overall. The dot.nu presentation of Overall
is a Dutch premiere.
