The key aim of the EVA series of conferences is to bring together 
especially scientists and interested people from museums, galleries, 
libraries and public administration. Users, suppliers and scientific 
research communities will exchange experiences, ideas and plans. Thanks to 
the support of the European Commission within the scope of the IST Progamme 
a new initiative began in January 2001: the EVAN Project (Electronic 
Imaging and the Visual Arts Networking). This refers to ‘people and 
networking’ between EC Projects as well as general efforts to disseminate 
leading-edge practice and apply new technology results in the cultural 
field using the EVA conferences around the world.
