USA must reveal names

Good news is that this happened - that an American judge orders 
government to reveal names of detainees. Bad news is that such 
news have to be first translated from Dutch. What happened to the 
US media?

The Dutch Volkskrant has just run some breaking news from ANP concerning
all those the USA has arrested or taken prisoner in connection with
September 11th... this includes those detained in Guantanamo Bay.

 VS moet namen gedetineerden bekendmaken

WASHINGTON (ANP) - De Amerikaanse justitie moet binnen vijftien dagen de
namen bekendmaken van alle mensen die gearresteerd zijn in verband met de
aanslagen van 11 september. Dit heeft een federale rechtbank vrijdag bepaald.

De zaak was aangepannen door een twintigtal mensen- en
burgerrechtenbewegingen. De uitspraak geldt ook voor de gevangenen die
vastzitten op de Amerikaanse militaire basis Guantanamo Bay.

The USA must make detainees' names known

Washington (ANP) The American Department of Justice must make the names
known of all persons arrested in connection with the September 11th attacks
within fifteen days. This has been determined by a federal court on Friday
[August 2nd, 2002].

The case was brought by some twenty human- and citizen's rights
organizations. This judgement also applies to the prisoners who are
detained on the American military base at Guantanamo Bay.
