i read today
josef
beuys
in interview
with writer
³ writing as sculpture ²
a book in a
bookshop.
so
beuys answers
some question
i do not know
what the question
was
and i paraphrase
from
my 20
seconds
with
this page:
I do not
believe that
Europe needs
a European Government.
I do not
think that a European
government
is a good idea.
At best it would be
only a copy
of the
American government
and I do not
believe that the
American federal
system works.
I do not believe
that government is
a good thing
because government
is about control
and not
about freedom.
Government tells
people what
to do. I do not
think this is
a good thing.¹
also
i asked
Andy Warhol
who he thought were
the best artists
today
and he said
somebody big¹
and i asked him
more
and he said
he thought
all workers
are artists¹
and
you know
I think that
I think that
too.¹
and there was something
else
about Europe
being complicated
about how you
need to negotiate
between all the
different
countries to
get any agreement on
any European action
and somehow this
also was
a good thing.
i
think only
that
new amsterdam
new york
new anywhere
are
places.
you know
politics is a
career
formed out
of drinking
and eating
together.
politics is
finally
about
cities and
what those
cities are.
in rome
actors
were not allowed
to be
politicians
or to be part
of the voting
processes
because
Scipio Africanus
³the best man in Rome²
believed that
all actors
were immoral
because theatre
was a Greek
idea and
Rome should
not be corrupted
by Greek ideas.
i think that
sometimes
now
politicians
can be
bigger than
cities
but i do
not necessarily
think that all
politicians
are artists.
i do think that
some politicans
and (i
know this)
also some
artists
expect art to
stand for politics.
