Road Works, on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 8 p.m. at Gallery P74.
You are also kindly invited to the event Attention: Women at Work!, on Monday,
October 2, 2006 at 4 p.m. at the crossroads of Komenskega street and Resljeva
street in Ljubljana.
 
Sanja Ivekovic (1949, Zagreb) is a prominent contemporary European artist and
one of the most established artists in the field of Croatian contemporary art.
The Road Works exhibition is the artistÕs first solo presentation in Slovenia.
On this occasion a catalogue Sanja Ivekovi?: Public Cuts with a text by Bojana
Pejic will be published in association with the Galzenica Gallery.

In her works, Sanja Ivekovic has dealt with social and political issues from
the perspective of feminist critics since the 1970s. Whether she is engaged in
performances, videos, installations, actions in public spaces, media or
activist projects, the artist transposes a wide range of personal themes into
the public or media space, emphasizing their political potential and social
impact.
 
The Road Works exhibition focuses on a review of selected projects and actions
performed Òon the streetÓ by Sanja Ivekovic over the last three decades (SOS
Nada Dimic, Lady Rosa of Luxembourg, The WomenÕs House, For Your Eyes Only,
Triangle 2, Liverpoll, etc.). In addition to the documentary exhibition in the
P74 Center and Gallery, the artist will also perform the intervention
Attention: Women at Work! at the crossroads of Komenskega street and Resljeva
street in Ljubljana.
 
Sanja Ivekovic is one of the pioneers of contemporary video art and
post-conceptual critical art. She has participated at different prominent
manifestations of contemporary art (Documenta 11, Manifesta 2, Liverpoll
Biennale, Cetinje Biennale, at exhibitions in the Tate Modern, Generali
Foundation, Kunst Werke, Witte de With, etc.), and is the winner of various
awards.
 
The exhibition was supported by The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of
Slovenia, Municipality of Ljubljana. We would also like to express our thanks
