1.2	OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME AND PRIORITY ISSUES FOR 2006

Following the crisis situation in Lebanon, it was decided to proceed 
to a simplified procedure and to reorient the objectives in order to 
meet the needs arising from this new context.
The programme of cultural activities of the Delegation of the 
European Commission in Lebanon - 2006 calls for:

a. support to cultural, artistic, recreational and educational 
activities addressed to children and adolescents having been affected 
by the war

b. the promotion of mutual understanding and the rapprochement 
between children and adolescents  through cultural exchanges

In order to reach these objectives, the Delegation of the European 
Commission provides for the funding of cultural activities in all 
Lebanese regions. These are projects submitted by local associations 
to the Delegation in Lebanon.

The Lebanese associations are encouraged to have Euro-Mediterranean 
partners and actions associating many partners in the 
Euro-Mediterranean region are appropriate.

These activities can also be organised in cooperation with the 
European Union Member States or with cultural institutions of the 
Mediterranean Partners.
