i think you'll notice the seeming contradiction with the second line about evidence ...well, how else to support any theory in any discipline. i had something else is mind which is the uncertainty associated with it - hence 'no guarantee that..' . 

instead of upending evolution in favor of u know what, i was  provocatively loosely thinking of the explanation debate such as gould-dawkins in gould's favor  :)

that was not the intention. it was to throw in some provocative notions ... 
i suppose i would defn be cautious about/against over-prescriptive/predictive explantions
