In relation again to the URL - note this is cellular darwinism, if 
anything a reintegration of darwinism into embryology. for those 
interested, Kupiec says "In the "genetic program" theory, interactions 
between cells imply the changes of the cell state; in my model, cells 
randomly change state and cellular interactions stabilize afterwards what 
was randomly obtained. It is an entirely different logic." - this I think 
is related to Waddington's chreod / evolutionary landscape notion. This is 
interesting, since Waddington's work has been little known in the past few 
decades, although he used to be associated with systems theory, Bateson, 
etc. He was also the editor of the Towards a Theoretical Biology series/ 
symposia I believe.
