we tend to forget that there are regions in the world with very slow 
connections
and no flat rates available or flat rates available only at very high cost

Croatia for example (due to the fact that the German Telekom has a 
position there, which is very close to a monopol)

socialistic organized countries

thus for those sitting on such a slow and expensive connection
I may mention again that normally if you are using an e-mail software
and not web-mail
it should be possible to install a filter
then headers of the e-mail still get checked but the e-mails will not 
be downloaded

if you can access your mail only via web mail this is a problem


if there are any people on this list to whom there are no cheap "pop 
e-mail" solutions available
please contact me
I could give out some e-mail addresses to be accessed via pop
(I do not need as many as I can create)
the only problem would be that you would run around with one of the 
domain names registered by me
