Vol. 108: Do Not Kill Expo
by Ozaki Tetsuya

On 2/27 an event titled "Korosu-na Haku ("Do Not Kill Expo") was
held at Aoyama Book Center's main store to commemorate the
publication of art critic Sawaragi Noi's new book "World Wars
and World Fairs" (Bijutsu Shuppan-Sha). Much more than a simple
talk show or autograph-signing session, it was an experimental
event with a number of visual artists and musicians.

Al-Kasaba Theatre: Stories Under Occupation II - The Wall

Their first performances in Japan in 2004 were sold out
immediately, and in the media they were showered with glowing
accolades. Now the reputed Al-Kasaba Theatre is visiting once
again from Palestine, and since this time they present a new
work realized in collaboration with artist Tsubaki Noboru, this
is again an event you shouldn't miss. Theme of this piece is
the wall that is presently being erected in Israel, and how it
affects the daily lives of the country's people. It will be
interesting to see how both Palestine and Japanese artists deal
with the phenomenon of a society being forced to live "under
surveillance" in a prison-like state, and I highly recommend
to witness the historical occasion of this world premiere.
