buzz-noise bastard muziek adventure. If you thought Crónica's catalogue
was moving towards hybrid-chick(en) concept guerilla, wait till you lay
your ears on Björgúlfsson and Ohlsson's extravaganza, honors made, this
Gonzo hit-record may as well pose as an Hunter S. Thompson emotive
farewell. These are tracks that may very well have been produced while
riding shotgun from LA to Las Vegas, with stops for eating chili-dogs
and occasional bowling with people that take their love for art and
artists to a totally new level, skin-deep! Do not miss the making of a
hit record video and join our heros in an adventurous journey thru the
valley of stardom. These record tracks spell p-o-p while leaving trails

Music was recorded and mixed at steim in Amsterdam 2003. Mastered by
Curver at Tími in Reykjavík. Drawings drawn in Amsterdam 2004. Movie
was filmed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas September 2003 during the "West
Coast We Conquer" tour.

Crónica is proud to present the fifth installment in the Product series
with works by Freiband and Boca Raton. Freiband's "Replay" and Boca
Raton's "Crop." are a pair of superb live-recordings made on March 25th
2004 at the Muziekcentrum as part of the Earational 2004 festival for
electronic music and audio-art, 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.

Early 2004 Freiband was invited by the Earational festival to play a
new piece based on the first CD 'Microbes'. When that was released
everybody thought this to be the 'first laptop album' by Frans de Waard,
but in fact it's the last 'non laptop album'. In the early days of
Freiband, concerts were loosely based on sounds from the 'Microbes'
album, played from mini discs and CDRs. To take the album onto the
laptop was indeed a challenge, but in hindsight it proved to be the
best concert by Freiband ever. Taking the small detailed micro-sounds,
placing them in a new context add a lot of tension and new depths to
the original material.

Boca Raton's piece performed at Earational 2004 is the result of a
series of experiments on Quadraphony and composing along it's six axes.
On micro, meso and macro-level, the composition contains circulating or
propelling sound, both in it's wave-shape as in it's structure over
time.

A Crónica tem o prazer de apresentar o quinto lançamento da série
Product contendo trabalhos de Freiband e Boca Raton. "Replay" de
Freiband e "Crop." de Boca Raton, são duas peças soberbas registadas ao
vivo no Muziekcentrum a 25 de Março de 2004, integrando a edição de
2004 do festival de música electrónica e audio-art EARATIONAL, em
's-Hertogenbosch, na Holanda. A estas duas soberbas prestações junta-se
ainda outro Holandês, Jan Robert Leegte, que assegura a componente
visual deste lançamento, onde tudo se conjuga para uma viagem
audiovisual em primeira classe pelas longas planícies dos países baixos.

No início de 2004 recebeu um convite do festival Earational para tocar
uma nova peça baseada no primeiro registo, "Microbes", um disco que,
quando foi lançado, levou toda a gente a pensar que se tratava do
primeiro 'laptop-album' de Frans de Waard, quando de facto se tratava
do último 'non-laptop-album'. No início do projecto Freiband, os
concertos baseavam-se livremente em sons do album Microbes, tocados a
partir de mini-discs e CDRs. Transportar o album para o laptop
constituiu um desafio, mas revelou-se posteriormente o melhor concerto
de Freiband de sempre. A recontextualização dos micro-sons adicionou
tensão e profundidade ao material original.

A peça de Boca Raton executada no festival EARATIONAL, resulta de uma
série de experiências em Quadrifonia e sobre a composição ao longo dos
seus seis eixos. Nos níveis, micro, meso e macro, a composição contém
som circulatório ou propulsionado, tanto ao nivel sinusoidal como ao
nível da sua estrutura ao longo do tempo. "Crop.", foi composto entre
Dezembro de 2003 e Março de 2004 e executado no festival Earational de
2004 em 's Hertogenbosch. A versão neste CD é, obviamente, uma gravação
stereo da peça original feita no local.
