Why Bother



Live Video Streaming from Artists' Studios



During the autumn of 2005, Localmotives will be organizing a project wh
ich aims to stream live video imagery from several artists' working spa
ces (aka «studios»). The project is named Why Bother and will be produc
ed in collaboration with i/o/lab and Atelier Nord. The video streams wi
ll be part of localmotives' 11th themed publication. The publication is
 titled 1:1 and will be physically manifested at Rogaland Art Centre (R
ogaland Kunstsenter) from the 15th of September to the 27th of November
.



We would like to get in touch with artists who already enjoy a high ban
dwidth connection to the internet, and would like to participate in Why
 Bother. You don't need to know a lot about video streaming. We will pr
ovide the technical assistance to make things work.There are no million
 euro cheques to win here, but on the other hand you won't have to beha
ve like an ass. We expect you to do the things you'd usually be doing, 
and you don't have to be in front of the camera all the time. It doesn'
t matter whether your working space is a desk, a corner of your livingr
oom or a good old studio.



We hope to gather participants from a geographic area as possible. The 
live streams from the various studios will be displayed in steady rotat
ion on monitors in the exhibition room at Rogaland Art Centre.
