Vol. 099: From Seoul
by Ozaki Tetsuya

I'm in Seoul, where I just hosted a press conference introducing
and promoting ART iT magazine's recent special on the Korean art
scene. The conference on October 26 took place in the E-Yeon Hall
of The Japan Foundation, Seoul, and was extremely well received.
It's a brand new hall in the centre of Seoul, equipped with the
latest technology for presentations and other purposes. I'd like
to use this occasion to express my deep gratitude to the Japan
Foundation for their prompt and very positive response on my
sudden request and providing such an excellent venue! ("The Korea
Herald" reported on the event in their 10/28 issue).

Kubota Kenji (curator, Art Tower Mito) Vol. 011

"Cafe in Mito 2004" ends on a high note.
Busy with various events every weekend plus the maintainance of
the outdoor installations, I had almost no chance to leave Mito
for the duration of the event. These were days with extensive
programs, characterized by sights of visitors that normally don't
visit art museums having fun in the galleries.

Two Lone Swordsmen

It's not the first time that British techno wizards Andrew
Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood aka Radioactive Man are visiting
the country, but this time they make their debut with a full band
(yes, BAND!) lineup. Although, considering the recent post punk
boom, TLS's acoustic attempt -- using among others Killing Joke's
old drum set -- is not really a unique idea, a look at the artists
featured on Weatherall's mix CDs for example makes clear that the
early '80s are where the duo's musical roots are. Check out the
odd collection of songs on their newest album, and don't miss the
Japanese edition of this bizarre live set that, including goth-style
decoration, has received phenomenal critique in the UK.
