goEast Halbzeit in der Caligari FilmBühne
Koktebel - Gewinnerfilm goEast 2004 - im Filmforum Höchst
goEast beim 28. Screenplay Festival in Serbien-Montenegro

Am Samstag, den 23. Oktober 2004 feiert goEast 
Halbzeit in der Caligari Filmbühne und zeigt 
aktuelle Filme aus Bulgarien, Ungarn und Polen.
Den Beginn macht um 16.30 Uhr der diesjährige 
Gewinner des Dokumentarfilmpreises der 
Gemeinnützigen Hertie-Stiftung: Azbuka Na 
Nadjdata (Alphabet der Hoffnung, Bulgarien 2003, 
50 Min., OmeU) des Regisseurs Stephan Komandarev.
Um 18.00 Uhr zeigt goEast den Spielfilm Kontroll 
(Control, Ungarn 2003, R: Nimród Antal, 105 Min., 
OmU), der in diesem Jahr bei den Filmfestspielen 
von Cannes zu sehen war. Um 20.00 Uhr wird der 
Film Egoisci (Egoisten, Polen 2000, 100 Min., 
OmeU) von Mariusz Trelinski zu sehen sein. Das 
Werk wurde in Polen sehr kontrovers diskutiert.

Im letzten Jahr präsentierte das Festival im 
Herbst Filme aus Russland in Kooperation mit 
Herus e.V., diesmal hat goEast mit der 
Deutsch-Polnischen Gesellschaft Mainz-Wiesbaden 
zusammengearbeitet. Und so wird auch die Villa 
Clementine, während der Festivalwoche zentraler 
Treffpunkt für Interessierte und Gäste aus Ost 
und West, an diesem Wochenende einmal mehr zum 
Schauplatz von Kultur aus Mittel- und Osteuropa. 
Die Deutsch-Polnische Gesellschaft veranstaltet 
am Freitag, den 22. Oktober dort einen Abend zu 
Ehren von Czeslaw Milosz. Gemeinsam laden wir 
dann am Samstag in der Caligari FilmBühne im 
Anschluss an den letzten Film zum polnischen 
Empfang.

Im Rahmen der Kulturwoche zur Osterweiterung der 
Europäischen Union, veranstaltet von der 
Volkshochschule Frankfurt vom 09. - 20. Oktober 
2004, präsentiert sich goEast beim Filmforum 
Höchst in der Filmreihe Blicke aus Ost und West 
und stellt seinen Gewinnerfilm aus 2004 vor. 
Christine Kopf, Festivaldirektorin, führt am 
Freitag, den 15. Oktober 2004, um 19 Uhr in den 
Film Koktebel (OmU), Russland 2003, 105 Min., von 
Boris Chlebnikov und Alexej Popogrebskij ein. 
Koktebel ist das Spielfilmdebut der beiden 
Regisseure und hat seit August einen deutschen 
Verleih (Freunde der dt. Kinemathek) gefunden.

Das 28. Screenplay Festival lud goEast im August 
nach Vrnjacka Banja, Serbien-Montenegro ein, um 
sich dort mit einem Filmprogramm zu präsentieren. 
Aus goEast 2004 wurden folgende Filme gezeigt: 
Jerzy Stuhr Pogoda Na Jutro (Das Wetter von 
Morgen), Leszek Dawid Bar Na Victori ( Eine Bar 
an der Victoria Station), Pjotr Sepotinniks Posle 
Tarkovskogo (Nach Tarkovskkj) sowie 4 Kurzfilme 
aus dem Studenten- bzw. Eröffnungsprogramm. 
Außerdem bot das Gastgeberfestival goEast die 
Möglichkeit, sich bei einer eigens einberufenen 
Pressekonferenz, in Fernseh- und 
Zeitungsinterviews, bei den Einführungen in die 
Filme im mit über 1000 Menschen gefüllten 
Amphitheater sowie im FIPRESCI-Workshop für junge 
Filmkritiker ausführlich darzustellen. Nächste 
Jahr wird das Screenplay Festival Gast bei goEast 
2005 sein.

goEast halftime in the Caligari FilmBühne
Koktebel - winner of goEast 2004 - in the Filmforum Höchst
goEast at the 28th Screenplay Festival in Serbia-Montenegro

On Saturday, 23rd of October 2004, goEast 
celebrates its halftime at the Caligari FilmBühne 
presenting current films from Bulgaria, Hungary 
and Poland.
At 4.30 p.m. the programme starts with this 
year's winner of the documentary award of the 
Hertie-foundation Azbuka Na Nadjdata (Alphabet of 
Hope, Bulgaria 2003, 50 min., OV, Engl. St) 
directed by Stephan Komandarev.
At 6 p.m. goEast presents the feature film 
Kontroll (Control Hungary 2003, 105 Min., OV, 
Ger. St) directed by Nimród Antal, which has been 
shown at the filmfestival Cannes.
At 8 p.m. Egoisci (Egoists, Poland 2000, 100 
Min., OV. Eng. St) by Mariusz Trelinski can be 
viewed. In Poland the film has received a very 
controversial recognition.

Last year in fall goEast presented films from 
Russia in cooperation with Herus e.V., this year 
we collaborate with the German-Polish Society 
Mainz-Wiesbaden. Once more the Villa Clementine, 
which attracts during the festival guests and 
interested people from the East and the West, 
will turn over this weekend into an arena of 
Central and Eastern European culture. The 
German-Polish Society presents an evening 
programme in the honour of Czeslaw Milosz. On 
Saturday, after the last film in the Caligari 
FilmBühne, we invite together to a polish 
reception.

In the frame of the Cultural Week to the 
Enlargement of the European Union, organised by 
the Volkshochschule Frankfurt from October, 9 to 
20 2004, the Filmforum Höchst showcases goEast 
with its winner film from 2004 in the programme 
Looks from the East and the West. On Friday, 15th 
of October 2004, at 7 p.m. the festival director 
Christine Kopf introduces the film Koktebel (OV, 
Ger. St), Russia 2003, 105 min. by Boris 
Chlebnikov and Alexej Popogrebskij. Koktebel is 
their first feature film and has since August 
found a German distributor (Freunde der dt. 
Kinemathek).

In August the 28th Screenplay Festival invited 
goEast to Vrnjacka Banja in Serbia-Montenegro to 
portray its programme. The following films were 
selected from the goEast 2004 festival: Pogoda Na 
Jutro (Tomorrow's weather) by Jerzy Stuhr, Bar Na 
Victori (A Bar at the Victoria Station) by Leszek 
Dawid, Posle Tarkovskogo (After Tarkovsky) by 
Pjotr Sepotinniks as well as four short films of 
the students' competition and the opening 
programme.
The hosting festival provided goEast with a 
platform to present itself in various occasions 
such as a press conference, television and 
newspaper interviews, the FIPRESCI workshop for 
young film critics, as well as the opportunity to 
introduce the films in the amphitheatre, filled 
with more than 1000 people. Next year, goEast 
will invite the Screenplay festival for a 
presentation at its festival.
