Maeda Keizo (producer, Conversation) Vol. 010

September 24-25
Namura Art Meeting '04-'34, Osaka

Invited by members of Dumb Type, as well as Mr. K. from Kyoto's
art complex 1928 and Ms. K. from Kobe Art Village Center, I attend
the "Namura Art Meeting '04-'34" in Osaka. Organized by a committee
that includes many leading individuals from the Kansai art and
intellectual scene, the event takes place at a former shipyard that
was transformed into an art space. What's unique about Namura is
that the building of the old shipyard is left untouched, in order
to make use of its equipment and various devices for art and other
purposes. But even more than the attractively austere space with its
characteristic "factory" atmosphere, it's the array of oustanding,
war-horse type of art producers that promises interesting and socially
stimulating results whenever they get together and work something out.

Kabusacki Tokyo Session: KIRIE release party

This concert's exciting sounding title indicates a one-time-only
session Argentine experimental guitarist Fernando Kabusacki did
in 2003 with an array of outstanding musicians from the domestic
crossover improv jazz scene. The members get together once again
for a remake, celebrating the release of a CD that captures in a
breathtaking way the tense, dramatic atmosphere that was created
ad lib one year ago. Japanese guitarrists accompanying the former
student of Robert Fripp are Kido Natsuki, and on the 23rd also
Yamamoto Seiichi. Other sessions take place on 11/24 and 11/28.
Each of these events will be a chance to see some high-quality
jamming with gorgeous lineups, so I leave it up to you which one
you check out. But mind you, to see at least one of them is a must!
