I think Dean or Kucinich should have been in Kerry's place. Again, 
from Milosevic's example: if one side is unapologetically and 
deliberately divisive, there is no point in other side trying to 
appear centrist and unifying. This is just going to be interpreted as 
a sign of weakness by the voter. Worse. It is like pouring water over 
the heated oil in the frying pan: trying to calm them down will just 
reinvigorate the zeal of the supporters of the divisive candidate, 
the one who is telling us that there are US and THEM, and nothing 
inbetween; it will not make them think.
