Vol. 089: News from Korea
by Ozaki Tetsuya

A few days ago I heard about the death of Korean artist Bahc Yiso.
This highly talented artist with a dry, intelligent sense of
humour participated in the Gwangju Biennale in 1997, in the Taipei
Biennale '98, and in 2001 he showed his work at the Yokohama
Biennale. At last year's Venice Biennale he was chosen to
represent his country, and eventually caused a stir with his
miniature models of the Biennale pavilions.

(2) Tokyo Visitors' Book

Edouard Lock, from Montreal

RT caught the choreographer/dancer while in Japan to promote
"Amelia", the new piece of his company La La La Human Steps
(staged 6/16-19).

See his entry in the Tokyo Visitors' Book at:

(3) Event Pick of the Week

Organic Groove feat. Critters Buggin

With their unmatched mixture of technical skills and otherworldly
sound, the troupe around sax wizard Skerik has been one highlight
in the history of Organic Groove. Three years after turning Liquid
Room into a spaceship on the loose with their extraordinary jam,
Critters Buggin are back in town, and even bring a new album --
the first in nearly five years, not counting solo and side-project
releases -- that'll be out in Japan first! On the album, Guests
including members of Master Musicians of Jajouka, Gus, or Pearl
Jam's Stone Gossard (who produced CB's debut) add even more colours
to the kaleidoscopic Critters world, so now let's check out how
this comes across in the two live sets in Daikanyama.
