This is interesting. Here is the petition asking to ban Marko
Perkovic Thompson in Croatia. The petition asks Croatia Records to
stop publishing and selling his CD-s and Croatian Radio and TV
stations to stop playing his music.

Almost 1400 people already signed the petition. Mostly Croats around
the world. Also some Serb and Bosnian names among the signatories.
Petition page is in Croatian language.

Marko Perkovic Thompson became Croatia's pop sensation with a
powerful hit Cavoglave during the war years. The song came out of an
impromptu jamming with his friends while on the front lines. During
his career MPT cashed in on nationalist feelings and performed at
politically charged events, openly supporting right wing, nationalist
candidates.

Last fall, he had his concert in Amsterdam banned for Nazi
paraphernalia.

While I oppose the ideology that helps Marko sell his music, I cannot
condone the petition that goes for a complete ban of somebody's free
speech. Let's bear in mind that Marko did not commit crimes against
humanity, raped and tortured people in this war. And while his lyrics
may or may not inspire bad acts, just like Marilyn Manson, Eminem, or
Kurt Cobain, he is not a criminal.

As a matter of fairness, those who are considering joining the
petition should visit his page, too.
