goEast - 4. Festival des mittel- und osteuropäischen Films
21.04. bis 27.04.2004 in Wiesbaden

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

das Deutsche Filminstitut - DIF veranstaltet in 
der Zeit vom 21. bis 27. April 2004 zum vierten 
Mal "goEast - Festival des mittel- und 
osteuropäischen Films" in Wiesbaden.

goEast möchte die Filmkultur Mittel- und 
Osteuropas sinnlich erfahrbar machen und die sich 
verändernde kulturelle, politische und soziale 
Situation dieser Länder reflektieren. Im 
Wettbewerb stehen 15 abendfüllende Spiel- und 
Dokumentarfilme der vorangegangenen zwei 
Herstellungsjahre. Beim Symposium setzen sich 
Film- und Osteuropawissenschaftler, Regisseure, 
Drehbuchautoren und Redakteure mit dem Thema 
"Identität in Nachwendezeiten" auseinander. Im 
Hochschulwettbewerb treffen sich junge 
Filmemacher aus Ost und West und präsentieren 
ihre Arbeiten. Die Sektion Highlights präsentiert 
herausragende aktuelle Filme, die in ihren 
Ursprungsländern große Erfolge waren, hierzulande 
aber unbekannt sind. Zahlreiche 
Sonderveranstaltungen ergänzen das 
Festivalprogramm. Mit seinem vielseitigen 
Programm ermöglicht goEast ein weiteres Mal einen 
kulturellen Austausch und fördert den fundierten 
Dialog zwischen den Teilnehmern und Gästen aus 
Ost und West.

goEast - 4th Festival of Central and Eastern European Film
21.04. to 27.04.2004 in Wiesbaden

Dear Sir or Madam,

the German Film Institute - DIF organises from 
April 21st to April 27th for the fourth time 
"goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern 
European Film" in Wiesbaden.

goEast would like to give the opportunity to 
experience the filmculture of Central and Eastern 
Europe and by reflecting upon the changing 
cultural, political and social situation. The 
Competition Section includes 15 feature and 
documentary films that have been produced during 
the past two years. At the Symposium film and 
Eastern Europe scientists, directors, 
screen-writers and editors are looking into the 
topic "Identities in the Post-Communist Era". In 
the Student's Section young film makers from the 
East and West are coming together and present 
their works. The section Highlights shows current 
films, which were very succesfull in their 
country of origin but unknown in Germany. A 
series of special events accompanies the 
festival's programme. With its varied programme 
goEast allows one more time a cultural exchange 
and brings forward the established dialog between 
participants and guests from the East and West.
