ZANKA
A web site dedicated to the confrontation
between video and the
Internet. It is based on the video
practice of the art tandem
Alajbegovic - Korda (known also under the
name Zank). ZANKA has five
modules: Subculture/Alternative practice,
Borghesia, Short films,
Documentaries, Television. It is placed on
the web within the frame of
the INTERNET PORTFOLIO, a project by SCCA-
Ljubljana, that presents
selected artists and groups active in
Slovenia on the Internet.

on October 9)
PROGRESS TOWARDS ZERO
A video installation. Video with a capital
V. Its only substance is the
image that deletes what it shows as it
goes along. 'The main actor is
the picture. But where can the video image
create traces of emotions?
In sound, of course. '(N. Kocjancic)
The installation 'Progress towards Zero'
is driven by the inflation of
images that made the three short films by
Neven Korda and Zemira
Alajbegovic (Intolerance, Autobus, The
Sand Collectors). 'It is the
artistic video film that is the truth of
video as a medium, the truth
of its insubstantiality, the lack of
reality and endless availability -
the capability to take apart, bend,
metamorphose.' (Z. Vrdlovec) The
place of this record was a cheating,
unreliable magnetic tape. 'Why do
they wonder about new wave aesthetics (the
Ljubljana type) with the
destruction and modulation of the
pictorial, when these things are much
better simulated with a computer video?'
(J. Strehovec)
For the TODAY'S PERSPECTIVE thanks go to
Melita Zajc, Igor Spanjol and
Aljosa Kolenc.
ART TODAY
rtsp://kid.kibla.org/encoder/ank.rm
The artwork will be placed in front of the
student coupon distribution
point on Kersnikova Street in Ljubljana
and near the entrance to
Cyberpipe. Direct transmission through the
Internet (video stream) will
fuse the environment and the artwork into
a new entity, thus adding a
question mark to the title.
