SCCA, Center for Contemporary Arts-Ljubljana presents:

Judit Bodor: ARTPOOL Art Research Center
Skuc Gallery, Stari trg 21, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Wednesday, 4th June at 8 pm

The multimedia presentation will be about the history of Artpool (1979-
2003) from the period of its illegal existence till the current
activities of Artpool Art Research Center, focusing on its yearly
projects. During the lecture the structure of the website and the
videodocumentation of some interesting events organized by Artpool with
the participation of some internationally well known artists (Ben
Vautier, Jonas Mekas, Jean Jacques Lebel, Bernard Heidsieck etc.) will
be shown.

Judit Bodor is an art historian currently working on enlarging the
archives databases and on documenting Artpool's projects:
>>I am particularly interested in how smaller art organisations are
operating in the field of contemporary art. The Artpool is the best
place for that. Working there, means that I can have the possibility to
live in the past, present and future as well. This is a live
organisation with the artistic aim to ask questions about the future of
ART/CULTURE on the basis of the past and make it visible in the
present.<<

ARTPOOL ART RESEARCH CENTER, Budapest, Hungary
http://www.artpool.hu/

Galantai and Julia Klaniczay with the objective to register changes in
art, to present and document the most interesting art experiments and
to promote artistic communication.

Artpool’s four aims realized in three different spaces (archives,
website, P60 art space):

Organizing exhibitions and art events: presentation of new trends in
art, new artistic tools and resources (intermedia, network, performance
etc.), presentation of possible antecedents and links (actions,
happenings, fluxus, experimental film, video etc.), cooperation with
other cultural and art institutions.

Education: lectures on the history of art with a special reference to
the current research being done at Artpool, practical training for
university students, publishing anthologies about current topics in art
as educational aids

Collecting: public documentation and archives (fluxus, performance,
sound poetry, visual poetry, artists bookwork, mail art, artists
stamps, postcards, periodicals, copy art, computer art, video art,
Hungarian alternative art of the 60s, 70s, 80s)

Research: covering the period from the end of the 50s in focused on
