Thank you for the story.
I would have never thought that one can complain at Google
and the ultimate punishment for copyright infringement could be
the elimination from the Google machine!
Also the letter exchange between Mr. Madden and Google staff is very
instructive. What a maffia kind of reasoning. First idenify your
business, an and than we are going to defend you...
Instead of simply stating that academic or artistic quotations
are free, and are always allowed, there is no way to stop it.
The same way of thinking bans also publications. In Hungary if i want
to publish a CD or a CD-ROM, first I have to pay a contribution for
the Artisjus company in order to defend my rights (that is the average
income of 6 months in Hungary). If i say that i don't want to be defended
they don't fax a permission to the only CD-burner company in the country.
Anticopyright or copyleft label is not accepted and it is prohibited to
print on the CD. The only way to escape the copyright maffia is to
pretend that 'another company, in the United States, is already defending me'.
May I say from now on that Google is taking care of my rights?
greetings,
Anna Balint
