Vol. 62: The Future of Mori Art Museum pt. 2
by Ozaki Tetsuya

I think that Shikata's involvement in Mori Art Museum will be in
a positive sense challenging for both parties. Mori Building
president Mori Mionoru is known as a blind admirer of Le Corbusier,
which shows that he is a passionate modernist. In the beginning
there even was whispering about Mori Art Museum's affiliation with
New York's MoMA, evidencing the (executive floor's) devotion to
modern art. David Elliott and Nanjo Fumio were smart enough, though,
to create a commotion by promoting Shikata.

66b/cell: test-patches

Founded by artists from Japan and Australia, "66b/cell" is a
media performance unit that has been working on the synchronization
of body movements, sounds and visuals through the use (or occasional
own development) of cutting-edge technology. In the past the
ensemble has performed with the likes of Sal Vanilla, showing
mysteriously SF-like stages. "test-patches" is a work that comes
in single, rearrangeable "patches" with extremely minimal music and
visuals. Displayed in such frequences are the thrilling results of
collaborations with technicians such as Watanabe Junji (Saccade-based
Display) from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Engineering, and
even without a concrete story the media mix promises to stimulate
the senses. Enjoy an atmosphere that's much more casual than Dumb
Type's sublime artistic happenings for instance.
