Nakanishi Daisuke ("Little More" magazine) vol. 008

Monday. Finally it's the first day of interviews for our "reading"
special. I'm meeting writer Saeki Makoto at Aoyama's Papas Cafe.
He brings along a number of objects and other material which he
uses to 'illustrate' his reading techniques. In the evening I'm
doing an interview with REALTOKYO editor Ozaki Tetsuya. After
allowing me a look at his bookshelf, which is a real treasure vault
of knowledge, he gives me a lesson in his own 'road movie' style,
both culturally and geographically border-crossing reading methods.
Back home I finish "The Perfect Paradox of Star Brands: An Interview
with Bernard Arnault of LVMH." I'm neither interested in brand
products, nor can I afford them, but Bernard Arnault is one who does
interest me. The interview Yves Messarovitch did with the CEO of
LVMH is just of the right length. The design and the rest of the
contents, though, is just too beautiful. Somebody will have to add
a few lines to the biography of this elite businessman sometime.

Long March Project Talk

The "long march" is what people call young Mao Tse-tung's ventures
heading the Red Army. Currently running is a project with more than
100 artists tracing that route of 12,500 kilometres in exhibitions,
symposia and other local events. Spectacles such as this one or Cai
Guo Qiang's "Project to Extend the Great Wall of China by 10,000
Meters" suggest that everything the Chinese are thinking and doing
seems to be super large-scale. Next to the likes of Ingo Gunther and
Trinh T. Minh-Ha, Cai is participating also in this project. In this
event initiator Lu Jie introduces the plan in a PowerPoint and video
presentation. Talk partner is P3 representative Serizawa Takashi.
