>The director's cut is a bit long, but still worthwhile. If you cannot handle three hours of viewing, then go rent the original 2 hour version. Nevertheless, the cinematography is gorgeous, the music is touching, the acting is naturally convincing, the story is terrific. If you want to see a real contemporary French movie, I would say this one is it. Unlike most hollywood romance movies, which often are driven to make the audience weep, this one leaves you in a state of shock and actually weeps for you, a rare occurence. I couldnt stop thinking about it days after the viewing. Because it talks about two opposties: loving and hating life, accepting and not accepting life, and finding and losing your identity. Once you see this movie, i dont think you will forget it, ever.

>I have lost count of the number of times I have watched "37°2 le matin" since it first appeared. Each time I feel as though I am discovering it anew.
>Although unable to encompass the full narrative of Philippe Djian's original novel,
>the film remains faithful at all times to the underling sentiment permeating the novel.
>Béatrice Dalle is exceptional as Betty, revealing to us her charms, vulnerability and
>the ultimate pain of her descent into madness. Jean-Hugues Anglade, as Zorg, is the
>mirror which gradually expands to absorb Betty's extravagant character into itself.
