Emotional Architecture is a conceptual territory whose limits and co-ordinates should be defined with intuitive methods. The content that can be dumped in this area is free of any limitations but one: it should deal in a direct or subtler manner with the ontological tensions between humans and their habitat. This topical vagueness gets permanently structured through the spontaneous clustering of tendencies and influences characterising the post-traditional social bodies

The stance "emotional" indicates though a certain positioning into the field of culture - within the realm of pathology. While emotions are a natural manifestation of (as far as we can speculate) all living creatures, an emotional state implies - in the contemporary idiom - a situation that went out of balance, a desequilibrium. Adopting this state of mind in defining our relation with the habitat might lead to pessimism, to speculation or to therapy. In order to avoid such sterile outcome, Emotional Architecture should be always brought into debate with a pluri-disciplinary humbleness. Considering at all times that one trade's commons are another trade's revelations, people could use the EmAr research as an exercise for mobility.

SampleCity, 2003, delivered both as a 4-channel video-installation (4 x 12') and as mega-video clip meant for TV broadcast.

The film is exploring the textual/human/architectural strata of the Bucharest cityscape, using as a guiding agent the post-modern impersonation of a character from an old Romanian folk tale. The sound track is a mix of reality samples with an edited version of "manele" - a new and trendy local music combining Romanian, Gypsy and Oriental folklore influences with hip-hop and drum-'n-base.

RA (Romania, 2000, 57 min, color, mono, English subtitles)

The footage was created in 1994, on the occasion of an exhibition meant to support community-oriented projects in the Romanian art world. The outcome was a film showing how a country with a complex history, social structure and cultural heritage is struggling with both the forces of globalization and a long totalitarian experience.

sony/wmf/pp (Nederland 2003, video, 3 min 30, color, mono)

The video belongs to a series of events dealing with the under stream of shaman residues running through various manifestations of the Western civilization. The title refers to the branded props used in the performance (Sonny camera/WMF pans and cutlery) and implies that even a trivial "product placement" (PP) can be converted into a spiritual experience.

Lost Toys - House of the Shaman 2 (Nederland 2001, three channels video installation, 3'30" x 3, color, mono)

Lost Toys is a random database of images coming from various content pools (art history, military history, anatomy, biology, architecture, history of science). The source material was extracted from printed media and processed into short animation clips according to a simple set of rules. Those rules are meant to displace the original significance of the icons - apparently based on the rational viewpoint of the Western culture - into a ground of playfulness and spontaneity.

Knots & Keywords - data base of photographic images generated by those who travel(led) and/or inhabit(ed) the city at a certain point in time, and felt the urge to use their camera in order to capture this encounter.
