A giudicare dai dati di affluenza, musei e mostre d’arte contemporanea
aumentano i visitatori di anno in anno. Si tratta di un boom della
domanda d’arte che si sposa anche a nuove iniziative, come la nascita di
nuovi musei d’arte specificamente rivolti alla contemporaneità. Anche la
scena internazionale è in fermento, a giudicare dalle iniziative e al
successo di grandi kermesse, come Dokumenta di Kassel e la Biennale di
Venezia. Senza parlare poi delle mostre-mercato, anch’esse in
espansione.  E’ a questo mondo che si rivolge la nuova rivista online
“Visual Art and Music Journal”, destinata ad occupare uno spazio molto
importante nel panorama delle riviste di aggiornamento e di riflessione.
Anche sul versante musicale si registrano novità interessanti e
significative. La casa editrice che sostiene questa iniziativa, la Sonus
Edizioni, viene da una lunga e consolidata esperienza nel campo delle
pubblicazioni destinate al mondo della musica. Si giova della più che
decennale esperienza della rivista “Sonus-Materiali per la musica
moderna e contemporanea”, che manterrà almeno nella prima fase di lavoro
la sua autonomia e la sua fisionomia di rivista a stampa. 
La pubblicazione online, diretta da Antonio De Lisa, è in rete dal 15
aprile all’indirizzo <www.visualart-journal.net>. Essa vuole inserirsi
fin dal mezzo di diffusione e dal titolo (volutamente in inglese) in
quel porto franco della contemporaneità che è Internet. La
pubblicazione, che si configura come un micro-portale, è destinata ad
unificare la documentazione relativa alle arti visive con le ricerche
destinate al mondo della musica in un unico sito. Il portale contiene al
suo interno due domini separati e allo stesso tempo interconnessi, il
primo ha il nome di www.vision-journal.info, il secondo
www.sonus-journal.info. Il sito si articola in diverse sezioni: la
sezione Vision-journal è destinata ad accogliere tutta la documentazione
relativa alle arti visive, con riferimento ad analisi, recensioni e
informazione sulla scena del’arte. La sezione Sonus-journal dà
testimonianza della parte musicale. La pubblicazione del sito-rivista
sveltisce e integra il lavoro della casa editrice, se si tiene conto del
fatto che accanto alle esperienze editoriali sta maturando anche
un’ampia esperienza nel campo delle iniziative dal vivo, come la “Scuola
estiva di musica e filosofia di Maratea” e il “Maratea Musica Festival”,
di cui è stata recentemente lanciata l’VIII Edizione, che si svolgerà
dal 26 luglio al 2 agosto 2003, con un’ampia offerta di servizi e di 20
borse di studio e un’apertura al mondo dell’arte. Il nuovo sito ospiterà
nella terza sezione i materiali e gli interventi relativi a questa
esperienza. 
Questo appuntamento segna quindi l’avvio di un esperimento importante,
tentando anche le vie di un confronto interdisciplinare che potrebbe
portare nuovi frutti nei rispettivi campi d’intervento.

According to recorded turnouts, the number of people visiting museums
and contemporary art exhibitions increases every year. Such booming
interest for art is also connected to new projects such as the creation
of museums specifically devoted to contemporary art. Many international
events are also gaining great success; we quote for example Dokumenta in
Kassel and the Venice Biennale; not to mention the increasingly
development of trade fairs.
Our new online magazine “Visual Art and Music Journal” is just devoted
to this sector: it will play a really important role among the magazines
providing updates and reflections.
Even the music sector is presenting interesting and important novelties.
Sonus Edizioni, the publisher that promotes this project, boasts a long
and well-established experience as regards music magazines. As a matter
of fact for over ten years it has been publishing the magazine
“Sonus-Materiali devoted to modern and contemporary music”. It will
remain independent and we will keep on publishing it  at least for the
first period of time. The online magazine, directed by Antonio De Lisa,
will be on the Web from April 15. You can read it visiting the web-site
www.visualart-journal.net <http://www.visualart-journal.net/> . We have
chosen such means of distribution and title (purposely an English one)
in order to play an active role on the Internet, a real free port of
contemporary time.
The online magazine is like a micro-portal featuring articles on visual
art and also researches on music. It features in fact two separated but
at the same time connected domains: www.vision-journal.info
<http://www.vision-journal.info/>  and www.sonus-journal.info
<http://www.sonus-journal.info/> . The web-site consists of various
sections: the “Vision-journal” one presents articles dealing with visual
art. There you find analysis, reviews and information on art, while the
“Sonus-journal” one deals with the world of music. This new
web-site/magazine integrates and speeds up the work of the publishing
house. As a matter of fact the publisher deals not only with magazines
but it is also gaining a really great experience in the organization of
live events such as the “Summer School for Music and Philosophy in
Maratea” and the “Maratea Music Festival”, whose 8th edition will take
place from July 26 to August 2, 2003. The school also offers a wide
range of services and 20 scholarships. You’ll find articles and
information on these events in the third section of our new web-site.
This new magazine is therefore the starting point of an important test
and such interdisciplinary confrontation may be really fruitful for both
sectors as well
