by Takahata Yuki

Veteran editor and founder of the IMA (Internet Museum of Art),

Fujihata Masaki: Field-Works

This is the opening event of ASK? (Art Space Kimura), a new
venue in Kyobashi devoted to the promotion of media art. This
exhibition invites you to view the archive of a workshop that
was held at Shimane Art Museum as part of the "Field-Works"
series using GPS together with video to record and reproduce
sceneries, in 3-D. The experience of three dimensions in several
intertwined animations plotted to trace the visitor's view is
one you surely make for the first time. However, as creator
Fujihata himself explains, it's "nothing really new," and what
visitors are presented with here are rather orthodox painting
technique. Well, and that's again pretty smart.
