Basic Stamp Robotics
Build ‘em, code ‘em, fight ‘em! You can even make them dance. Artist Paul Granjon returns for a second year with an intensive three-day workshop, guiding participants to build and program their own Basic Stamp robot. Some programming and soldering knowledge would be an advantage but not essential. Cardiff based French artist Paul Granjon will be running an intensive three-day robot laboratory, bringing Basic Stamp programmable life to everyday automatons.

Paul will guide participants through their personal projects with a combination of BASIC programming and environmental feedback circuitry. Simple electronic and programming techniques will be taught during the workshop.
Notes to Applicants
This workshop is a one off opportunity for exciting, hands on learning about ways of interfacing computers with everyday objects. Knowledge gained here can be adapted and applied to the kind of computers that many of us work with everyday.
Paul will be teaching all the necessary skills for the projects. However, applicants should be comfortable with computers in an everyday sense and have the soldering skills to wire an electrical lead. Participants with some prior experience in programming or building electronic modules will find this useful for the workshop.

If you feel you do not fall into the above category please don’t be put off applying for the workshop, enthusiasm is far more important than prowess here! However, due to the pressure of resources and time, places are limited so participation in this unique experience is by application only. To help Paul choose a suitable team for this event, please contact Trampoline on 0115 8409272 and request an application form.

Please return forms marked Radiator Festival (Robotics Workshop) to Broadway, 14-18 Broad Street, Nottingham, NG1 3AL by April 18th and email your contact number to Paul Granjon at paul at zprod.org <mailto:paul at zprod.org> so that he can talk to you personally about your project ideas. WHILE YOU ARE ON THE INTERNET CHECK OUT PAUL’S WEBSITE www.zprod.org and see what you could be making!

GPS Drawing Workshop

If you could look back at your life and see everywhere you have been as a huge drawing, what would it look like? Would shapes form like constellations in the night sky? As letters emerge and words form, are they the one's you'd choose? With the advent of available Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology, an exploration of these questions comes within the reach of artists.

This practical workshop will introduce GPS and some of the software Daniel Belasco Rogers has used during the course of his work. It will also explore the use of the streets of Nottingham as the canvas for a series of drawings made by the workshop participants amongst other creative techniques.

Daniel Belasco Rogers is an artist who has worked in performance, installation, theatre and new media since graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 1989. His current work concerns the micro-histories and accidents that mark our paths through life.
