Workshop Opportunity - stiil a few places available
Mon 28th April - Fri 2nd May 2003
Taking place at Intermedia, Nottingham, UK
Cost: £100
(contact us of you require information about additional bursaries or support
with these costs)
Monday panel event: (free to participants or £5 general admission) 2pm -4pm.
Refreshments and networking: 4pm - 5pm. The panel will discuss "the live
experience" in networked media, audience development for interactive live
streaming projects, remote venues and distribution strategies.

5 places are available for artists, and 5 for new media producers/filmmakers
to take part in a unique week involving production, discussion and an
exchange forum exploring live streaming technology through a creative
process. This is an opportunity to engage in a collaborative process between
artists and media producers, to develop and deliver exciting content for the
web.
The week will commence with an introduction day, involving a public panel
with invited speakers and the opportunity to network.
Over the week Active Ingredient will work with the participants to build a
series of live broadcasts, exploring the need to communicate through the
challenges of live broadcast and interaction via the web. ...A message in a
bottle, Morse code, SOS, semaphores, text messaging, email, webcams,
chatrooms. In a bunker like television studio you will try and send a series
of messages to the outside world...
The week will end with a live broadcast event, showcasing the results of
'Nottingham Calling' on the Friday afternoon.
'Nottingham Calling' will involve ongoing live audio and video streaming,
looking at the current technology, and it's future potential. There will be
an opportunity to play with some interactive technologies including web
controlled robots, mobile phones and artificially intelligent web agents,
and to develop chat spaces and work with web software.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be encouraged to keep an online
diary and broadcast live, keeping up a continuous dialogue with a selected
beta-test audience on the Moon Radio webTV channel, and challenging that
audience to keep watching...
