The Lurkers Freak Show and Shadow always remind me of 
Beggars Banquet, which if I'm right also first released
the records of Tubeway Army (+ Gary Numan) who's work
is heavily recycled at the moment. Also remember the
first compilation record by Beggars Banquet it had a
very weird song on it, don't remember the singer or 
band. But it was about the question: is god a man?
does he wear a wristwatch, does he wake up with 
hangovers on monday, etc.
