CYNETart_02realtime
Visitors trigger spaces of sound and light
The meanwhile sixth International Festival for Computer-Based Art CYNETart_02realtime exclusively presents interactive environments and performances that explore the relationship between human movement in space and computer-generated virtual environments. Of major importance in the artistic work is one existential issue of human life in this more and more mechanised world: to what extend are lifetime and living space occupied beyond recognition by the acceleration of computers and networks and how can a creative dialogue with digital real-time media sensitise our perception of human presence?
During this year’s project „Realtime & Presence – Composition of virtual environments“, more than thirty artists, technicians, and information scientists from seven European countries and the US cooperated, with the support of Culture 2000, programme of the European Union, in a linked working process. They developed installations and performances that, artistically as well as technically concise, make the potentialities of a new dialogic interhuman culture sensually perceptible.
This project and the festival CYNETart_02realtime form the start of the Trans-Media-Akademie’s activities in the Festspielhaus Hellerau.

De Humani - computer-based choreography
Ventura Dance Company, Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag, Frieder Weiß
Following Andreas Vesalius’ anatomical study “De Humani”, Pablo Ventura explores the interior of the human body. The body and its interior is presented by means of different sensors, letting the dancer’s movement generate the sound.
10 pm
Inaugural concert of the „rotobossophon“
with Andres Bosshard, Günter Heinz (tb), Jan-Peter Sonntag (tb)
rotobossophon – sound space instrument
Andres Bosshard
Development and fabrication: Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag with N-solab, Stefan Döppner with f 18
This novel space organ consists of a rotor which carries four separately controllable speakers. When it is moving, a manifold number of quasi-speakers emerge from the turbulence of the four sound emissions. They sound into different directions and undulate the space.
Friday, November 8
8 pm
4Hands
Bertrand Merlier, Jean-Marc Duchenne
Bizarre movements manipulate sounds and images by means of camera motion tracking in this sophisticated hand choreography, thus generating an impressive performance setting.
9 pm
Creation of the World - experimental (Anti)Opera
Michael E. Edgerton
This analysis of different world models and their adaptation to everyday life will feature explorative music, drama, images, movements that are combined to explore the means by which ideas and forms might be transferred from one medium to another.

x-sea-pieces
Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag, N-solab: Sonntag, Werner Neff, Jörg Eberhardt, Jens Bakenhus
This space composition acoustically simulates the volumes of secluded rooms. A field of standing shock waves perceptibly pervade those present and are thus always newly configured. The thermal radiation of the visitors is transformed into oscillating high voltage arcs.

Wednesday, November 6, 8 pm opening
Das Wasser war kalt – performance installation
Senselabor
The sensor interfaces of this mutant setting open it up to the audience. Sound and video components change in accordance with the movement in the installation.
CrossComplex0.9 AutoroboticsDiscussForum
Humatic
The RoboScreen, the video image of an industrial robot present this semi-automatic forum. It is influenced by the visitor’s interaction with the image.
CrossComplex0.9 DIS_:Harmoniser
tenteki, Humatic
Real space becomes a movement-sensitive audio-visual laboratory, a quest for the perfect (dis)harmony of image and sound in space.
dis.place
Christian Ziegler
This closed circuit represents the mirror image of the observer – displaced. A deforming, delayed shadow blurs the image, triggers a pas de deux with the imprint of past events.
Humagnetic
Jan-Peter E. R. Sonntag
The video installation forms the last part of the composition for Pablo Ventura’s choreography of “De Humani”. It is an intimate and playful situation in a closed experimental system consisting of the body of the player (body sensor) and the computer the electromagnetic radiation of which provides the basic material of the sound.
stop and go
Jo Siamon Salich
Distances between rest and movement, action and reaction, original and representation become apparent visualisations of the movement(s) of visitors.
Le ciel crevé
Jean-Marc Duchenne
Using subtle movements of their hands, the visitors interfere intruder-like with video material and thus manipulatively designs idiosyncratic visual structures.
ich-bande
Hartmut Dorschner
The computer becomes a vis-à-vis reflecting, commenting on, and decomposing the visitor’s voice.

[80B] Implosion + Simultan Presence02
Frieder Weiß, Dominik Rinnhofer
The self-modifying interactive sound installation is incited to oscillate by movement impulses which, in extremis, may cause the entire soundscape to collapse. Simultan Presence deals with the belief in individuality, states that there is none as the entire system is always influenced by the presence of others.

Sunday, November 10, 1 – 4 pm
Forum Realtime & Presence: Areas of Presence
blueLAB, Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag, Frieder Weiß, Stefanie Vera Kockot, Dominik Rinnhofer, Detlef Günther a.o. presentation Klaus Nicolai
Tying in with the themes under consideration during the workshop “Realtime & Presence - Composition of virtual environments”, the forum is an opportunity for the further discussion with media artists, scientists, programmers.
