[3] SIGHTSONIC FESTIVAL - The Hafler Trio, Evol, Terre Thaemlitz, Ryo Co.
York. 18th + 19th October 2002.

Two special evenings of live electronic music experiments, supported
by Lovebytes, in some of York's most famous landmarks:

20.00
18th October
Clifford's Tower
York

The Hafler Trio, legends of the electronic underground scene, are in
town to give a rare and secretive site specific performance. With
glue, postage-stamp flowers, pebbles, razor blades, unrest and
onions. Joining them are Barcelona based Evol, who bring to the table
their own particular brand of computer music as featured on labels
such as Mego, Fal.sch, and their own label ... Alku. Expect
algorythm-based audio and chinchilla-inspired composition. Terre
Thaemlitz/Ryo Co.

20.00
19th October
The National Centre for Early Music
York

Referencing everything from house music to terrorism, Terre Thaemlitz
travels from Japan to present new material from his upcoming album,
Lovebomb. Also appearing is Mélange label owner Ryo Co presenting her
distinctive style of playful, moody, melodic electronics, migrating
from the most catchy pop to serious glitchy, shifty, lunatic rhythms.

Was A Girl" by Terre Thaemlitz and "We Edit Life" by People Like Us

[5] BUBBLES by WOLFGANG MUENCH + FURUKAWA KIYOSHI Interactive
multimedia installation 21 November 2002 - 12 Jan 2003, Waterman's
Gallery, Brentford.

"The multi-user installation 'Bubbles' enables participants to
interact with the realtime simulation of floating bubbles. By
entering the light beam of a video projector, the participant throws
a shadow onto the projection screen. The projected bubbles will
recognize this shadow and bounce off its outlines, at the same time
emitting certain sound effects. By moving your body and its resultant
shadow you can play with these bubbles and the sound composition.
Participants and spectators learn how to interact with the system
very quickly and get involved in dancing, playing, and other kinds of
odd behaviour."

MORVERN CALLAR
An adaptation of Alan Warner’s novel of the same name, Morvern
Callar. A rich and intriguing story unfolds as we follow Morvern's
journey from a prosaic life on the remote Scottish coast to
self-abandonment and re-invention in the sun drenched vistas of
Spain. The soundtrack forms an integral part of the film; the tape
her boyfriend left her before committing suicide.

ANDREW CANNON
Andrew Cannon - music supervisor on MORVERN CALLAR will be talking
about the development of the soundtrack.
The sound track is released on Warp Records on November 4th.

FILM IST 7-12
Film ist. 7-12 is the second in a series of proposed 'tableau films'
by Gustav Deutsch. The twelve chapters, each illustrating a
particular theme or theory, are discreet works which may be shown in
any combination but together build into a discourse on the
phenomenology of the cinematic medium.
