  In the last two years the work of Grzegorz Klaman, quite possibly the most
  “political” of all contemporary Polish artists, has clearly been heading in
  the direction of sanctioning “civil disobedience” through a definition of
  the framework which is delineated for the artist-citizen by the more or less
  democratic Polish reality. The artist explores the area of social identity
  not only in reference to the body or to the mental interior but also in
  direct relation to the problem of the contemporary national symbol of
  Poland. The realizations with “flags” in the title are a kind of vote of no-
  confidence in the lack of reflection of Poles, a distancing from the
  dysfunctionality of the elites and at the same time a proposition for the
  re-definition of national values.
