This is a cooperation of the PALINDROME Inter-media performance group Nuernberg, the blueLAB Dresden, and the Trans-Media-Akademie Dresden.


The first Dresden interface lab presents itself in a project party:  On Friday, 31st of May at 8 pm there will be another blueLAB evening in the BLAUE FABRIK.

During the evening, some projects will be presented which illustrate the history and the current state of development of the artistic applications of the interface lab.  The lab's achievements will be shown in their current state of work.  The work of the lab was inspired by the continuing debates of media structure and media significance.

blueLAB is known as a laboratory aiming at creative investigation with an objective to artistic research.  The artists involved in the blueLAB work take up software developments like EyeCôn or BigEye and integrate them in multimedia live performances.  Above all, BlueLAB stands out due to the interdisciplinary teamwork of painters, musicians, composers, dancers, and media experts.  Thus, media applications fit together with these different orientations and connective layers to form an interactive collage.

Translocal performance

The highlight of the evening surely is trialoc + ping, the translocal performance of three dancers in two locations in Nuernberg and in another location in Dresden.

In Nuernberg the noise music of the Japanese performance artist Atau Tanaka (Sensorband) will be performed interactively by Palindrome dancers. Three performance sites in three different locations (Tafelhalle, Z-Bau Nuernberg and Blaue Fabrik Dresden) are linked by high-speed internet connection. A dancer performs at each site, who, through his position on stage, controls a single extremely low (and extremely loud!) base pitch.  Each dancer can thus micro-tune his own pitch, though all three pitches are heard at all three sites.  Subtle changes in similar frequency induce so-called "interference patterns" and these strong and complex patterns - which are almost felt more than they are heard - make up the essence of the music.  A graphic interface provides the audience with data and video images from the satellite performance locations.  The audience encounters the interference phenomenon by experiencing the sound material of all the locations as a unity. This sound is the result of the interaction of the music of all three locations.

Während des Abends wird die Entstehungsgeschichte und der Entwicklungsstand der künstlerischen Anwendung ihres Interfacelabors an Hand von Projektbeiträgen aufgezeigt. 

blueLAB versteht sich als ein Labor mit künstlerischen Forschungszielen und kreativen Untersuchungsabsichten. Die künstlerische Arbeit der im blueLAB tätigen Künstler knüpft an Softwareentwicklungen wie EyeCôn oder BigEye an und integriert sie in multimediale Live-Performances. blueLAB zeichnet sich vor allem durch eine interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit zwischen Bildenden Künstlern, Musikern, Komponisten, Tänzern und Medienexperten aus. Somit fügen sich Medienanwendungen mit unterschiedlichen Ausrichtungen und Bezugsebenen zu einer interaktiven Collage zusammen.


Translokale Performance
Das Highlight des Abends – trialoc + ping - ist sicher die translokale Performance dreier Tänzer an zwei Orten in Nürnberg und an einem in Dresden. In Nürnberg wird die Noise-Musik des japanischen Performance Künstlers Atau Tanaka (Sensorband) interaktiv aufgeführt. An drei unterschiedlichen Orten (Tafelhalle, Z-Bau Nürnberg und Blaue Fabrik Dresden) steuern Tänzer über Internet die Mikrointonation der Überlagerung dreier sehr tiefer - und extrem lauter - Grundtöne. Die Überlagerung dieser Töne bildet ein sich ständig variierendes Interferenzmuster das direkt körperlich erfahrbar wird. Die akustische (fast körperliche) Erfahrung wird durch Videoübertragungen von den anderen Aufführungsorten ergänzt. Das Publikum erfährt dieses Interferenzphänomen, indem es das Soundmaterial aller Locations in einer Einheit erlebt. Der dabei entstehende Sound ist das Ergebnis der Interaktion der Musik zwischen den drei Orten.

Dies ist eine Kooperationsveranstaltung zwischen der PALINDROME Inter-media Performance Group Nürnberg, dem blueLAB Dresden und der Trans-Media-Akademie Dresden.
