The winners of the fourth MuVi Award and the second MuVi Online Audience
Award, announced at the 48th Short Film Festival Oberhausen on Saturday, 4 May:

MUVI AWARD:

1st Prize (2,500 Euro):
TAKE ME TO BROADWAY
Music: Gonzales Director: Nina Rhode, 2001

Jury Statement:
Cinema as a compression, a condensation of the arguments we have with
ourselves during the creative process. Think of this selection as a kind of
cinematic exorcism of the things that possess us when we think of the
spectator and the director. This film, for us, was about the collapse of
distinction between the two.

2nd Prize (1,500 Euro):
GAME
Music: Nika Machaidze Director: Tusia Beridze, 2001

Jury Statement:
While the corporate machine of the music industry increasingly targets more
and more specific demographics among the viewing public, "Game" offers the
audience a quiet moment of lyricism, a careless poetic observation, gentle
and oddly familiar.

3rd Prize (1,000 Euro):
ICH MOECHTE NICHT, DASS IHR MEINE LIEDER SINGT
Music: Jan Delay Director: Jan Eissfeldt, Marek Meyer, Florian Kaiser,
Guido Weiss, Myriam Brueger, 2001

Jury Statement:
The third prize goes to the most determined kick in the ass the mainstream
has received in recent years. All the big labels were after him. But he did
not want their major label deals. He did not want a big budget video. He
did not want your money. And he does not want you to sing his songs, either.

The Jury:
John Maybury, filmmaker and artist, UK
Paul D. Miller, artist, author and musician, USA
Svenja Rossa, clip director, Germany
