Strange Kinoko Dance Company: "Frill (mini) Wild"

The company was established in 1990 by Ito Chie, Koyama Yoko and
Yamashita Mimiko, and after joining forces for the production of
works until 1995, Ito Chie has become fully responsible for
direction, production and choreography since 2000. Without falling
back on the privileges of genres such as performance or contemporary
dance to challenge the limits of body functions through choreography
or unusual physique in stage spectacles, the company has developed
their own, unique form of expression. Such shows can neither be
called 'theatre,' nor do they fall under 'performance,' but they're
just scenes presented so casually and without timidity that spectators
even forget that they are actually watching a stage performance.

Dance in Kiddy Land

Nibroll's Yanaihara Mikuni was just given the Award of the National
Advisory Panel at the 'Rencontres choregraphiques internationales
de Seine-Saint-Denis Yokohama Platform' (what a long one!), next to
Kuroda Ikuyo from 'Kim Itoh + the Glorious Future,'. 'Rencontres...'
was formerly known as 'The Bagnolet International Choreography
Competition,' an authoritative competition event that is internationally
regarded as the gateway to success for up-and-coming choreographers.
Yokohama Platform is a national pre-selection event for 'Rencontres...'
that awards winners with the bonus of training in France, so this can
be considered a great success for Yanaihara. (Unfortunately I haven't
seen Kuroda's works yet, so I can't say more about her.)

Super Robot Exhibition

Super Robot is a planning and interior design unit made up of
professionals from the architecture, furniture design, and lighting
businesses. Previous projects include Ebisu's 'Milk,' 'Bar Orange,'
and others. The unit is known for a strong sense of materials, and
especially when working with iron they're unrivalled. This time's
exhibition will apparently focus on furniture design, and on 3/9 the
designers meet with artists such as Tatsuya Oe (a.k.a. Captain Funk),
and Tsujikawa Koichiro (visual creator) for a talk session, titled
"All Tomorrow's Parties vol. 2." Since Tatsuya Oe will move over to
the DJ booth after the talk, this sounds like a night to temper the
eyes, the head, the heart and the body.
