December 14 (Fri)

Finally, it's the season of year-end parties. I have made myself
a reckless party schedule, and today I stop by at the Calvin Klein
boutique in Aoyama. It's a kind of fashion show plus food and
drinks, with models presenting the spring-summer collection on a
catwalk. Such presentations inside shops seem to be popular recently,
but they should work a little more on the arrangements. Several
magazine editors have gathered but, may it because they're all too
busy, most of them - myself included - ignore the food and hurry
to the next event.

Jonas Mekas Exhibition

He is famous as the originator of "Anthology Film," and I suppose
that many people love the slightly melancholic style of Jonas
Mekas' movies. His home country, Lithuania, was taken once by the
Soviets and once by the Germans, which forced the poet and film
maker, Mekas, to go through several labor and refugee camps, before
seeking asylum in the USA in 1949. I think that all his actions and
remarks make him a truly venerable person. This exhibition displays
about forty items of Mekas' prints and photographs, and this is one
I'm definitely going to see.
