Seminar on Cultural Policy and Modern Media Arts in Bulgaria

Dear friends, 
We are pleased to invite you to take part in the event "Cultural   
Policy and Modern Media Arts", which is going to be held in    
Sofia, Bulgaria, dates - 16th - 21st July, 2002.    

DEADLINE FOR APPLYING and receiving the completely  
filled Application Form - JUNE 13th, 2002.    

TRAVEL COSTS AND REIMBURSEMENT:   
Most of the expenses are covered by the Hosting  Organization  
1. Board and lodging are provided by the hosting organization   
and are covered by the project budget;   
2. 80% of the travel expenses will be reimbursed on the basis of
the most economic transport fairs (APEX, student fare etc.);  Also
there are limitations for the travel reimbursements, depending  on
the country and the distance (detailed table will be send to the
selected participants). In principle, the biggest compensation for   
the travel costs will be up to 350 EUR (but 80% of the costs).     
3. Participation fee is 60 EUR for Western European Countries    
and 30 EUR for Eastern European countries (former socialist    
countries). The fee will be deducted from the travel   
reimbursement.   


During the meeting will be discussed the following    
problems and topics:   
1. Problems and practices of cultural policy in the sphere    
of modern media and computer arts - sharing of experience     
2. Relations between culture and economy - lecture and       
discussions       
3. Content / Discontent of digital arts - discussion on digital  
culture values and level of support       
4. @rt v/s art - confrontation game about the tendencies in the 
sphere of digital and traditional arts      
5. Net culture - the youth culture - lecture and discussion    
about the place of modern media and computer arts in the    
youngsters life       
6. Level of support and promotion of modern media arts -  making
recommendations for culture policy in the sphere of modern media
and computer arts.   
We expect the following participants:    
1. Representatives of institutions and organizations working in   
cultural policy-making process;   
2. Experts and organizers of new media art festivals;   
3. Representatives of modern art organizations and cultural
centres;   
4. Young artists working in the sphere of computer arts, new
technologies and communications.
